This air fry crispy tofu recipe is a delicious and healthy way to enjoy tofu as a snack or main dish. The tofu is marinated in a flavorful and savory sauce made with soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey or maple syrup, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. After marinating, the tofu is coated in cornstarch for extra crispiness and air fried until golden brown and crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside.   • Marinade
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (for vegan option)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  •  Tofu
  • 1 block of firm tofu
  • 1/4 cup of the above tofu marinade
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch


  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey or maple syrup, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using) until well combined.

  2. Place the tofu in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over the tofu, making sure to coat it evenly.

  3. Marinate the tofu in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 24 hours for more flavor.

  4. When ready to cook, remove the tofu from the marinade and pat dry with paper towels before using in your recipe.

  5. Press the tofu: Place the tofu on a clean kitchen towel and press down with your hands or a heavy object to remove any excess water.


  1. Cut the tofu: Cut the tofu into small cubes or sticks.
  2. Marinate the tofu: In a bowl, combine the tofu with the marinade and stir until the tofu is fully coated. Allow the tofu to marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight in the refrigerator.
  3. Preheat the air fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  4. Coat the tofu: Sprinkle the cornstarch over the marinated tofu and toss to coat evenly.
  5. Air fry the tofu: Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and add the coated tofu in a single layer. Air fry for 10-12 minutes or until crispy, shaking the basket halfway through cooking.
  6. Serve: Serve the crispy tofu immediately with your favorite dipping sauce or as a topping for a salad or rice bowl.
